TIPS AND TRICKS
CREATING ALIASES WITHOUT THE WORD ‘ALIAS’
Do you find it as annoying as I do that Mac OS X adds the word “alias” every time you create an alias? (I know, previous versions of the Mac OS did that as well, and it annoyed me there too.) Well, you can bypass the “adding-the-word-alias” uglies altogether by holding the Option and Command keys and clicking-and-dragging the original file outside the Finder window it’s currently in (I usually just drag mine to the desktop). This creates an alias without the word “alias” attached. (Note: Don’t worry, you’ll still know it’s an alias, because its icon will have a tiny arrow at the bottom left-hand corner.)
LOOK INSIDE MULTIPLE FOLDERS AUTOMATICALLY
Need to see what’s inside more than one folder while in List view? Do it the fast way—Command-click on all the folders you want to expand, then press Command-Right Arrow. All the folders will expand at once if the file you’re looking for isn’t there, just press Command-Left Arrow (you can do that, because your folders are still highlighted) to quickly collapse them all again.
THE THING ABOUT LEDS IS...
To understand the issues at hand we need to understand the most basic of lighting relationships...
So often I get asked to retrofit existing light fittings with power saving alternatives such as CFL’s , discharge sources or more commonly LEDs.
VINYL LIFESPANS
The following interesting information on vinyl lifespans was supplied by Avery Graphics. It was a result of independent research carried out by the Cooperative Research Centre for Southern Hemisphere Meteorology (Meteorology CRC) and is not specific to Avery vinyls.
SOME MOERSE FUNNY STUFF!
ASIA FOOD TREND: "CANNIBAL BANQUETS" - BOGUS?
Vorephiliacs, rejoice! Chop open the humanoid piñata corpse, rip away her skin, then nosh out on what's inside. The wounds you create "bleed" edible blood. Are the genitals jporn mosaicced like that in real life? Link, via Gadling (thanks, paul). Reader comments and debate over whether this is (a) real and (b) Japanese follow after the jump.
NEO-MICKEY MOUSE CARTOON
Awesome re-imagining of Mickey Mouse by Matthew Cruickshank and Barry Baker. I'm not sure if Disney hired them to do this, but I'm betting Disney's lawyers are going to get this video yanked from YouTube in short order.
TOMBSTONES OF THE RUSSIAN MOB
Here's a photoseries of trendy tombstones commissioned for the resting places of Russian mobsters. Tall black marble stones, laser-etched with horrible photos of murderers in casualwear, wearing iced-out Rolex knock-offs, all rendered in picometer accuracy.
JUPITER FLYBY TODAY FOR NEW HORIZONS; PHOTO TIME CAPSULE
The NASA New Horizons mission will make its closest approach to Jupiter a half-hour from the moment I hit "publish" on this blog post -- that's 28 February 2007, at 05:43:40 UTC. Next stop: Pluto. To commemorate today's historic Jupiter flyby, The Planetary Society has published images which will be sealed in a Digital Time Capsule, and unlocked in the year 2015 (when the craft is scheduled to reach Pluto).
FUNNY SIGNS
They lurk everywhere - just waiting to catch us unsuspecting. On street corners, on the sides of buildings, on cars and even in the middle of veld - watch out, they will leave you laughing helplessly...
