DIGITAL SIGNAGE: A POWERFUL INGREDIENT IN AN INTEGRATED MARKETING RECIPE
Today’s consumer is more mobile than ever before, spending a third more time out of the home than they did ten years ago. Consumer media has changed hugely with the advent of the Internet, PDAs and mobile phones, and the distinction between in-home/out-of-home has become almost redundant. Therefore, marketers can no longer afford to take a siloed approach to channels in their communication strategies.

Although in the printing industry at the time, Beattie recognised a forest of niche market opportunities for this product, including low-cost housing.

The 40 storey New Yorker hotel is New York can look back on a long tradition. And, as benefits an establishment of this kind in the USA, it has a huge neon sigh on the roof. A number of challenges had to be overcome. There was an existing colour scheme to work with and the replacements had to be compatible. The wall frames needed to be installed in a matter of weeks from the initial meeting and needed to be easily to update, unlike the wall frames that were already in place.

TIPS AND TRICKS

CAN'T REMEMBER THE PASSWORD?
If you can’t remember a password for a website (or anything else for that matter), all your passwords are saved in the Keychain Access utility (which probably isn’t news to you), but the cool thing is you can do a Spotlight search from right within Keychain to quickly find the password you’re looking for.

Start by looking inside your Applications folder for the Utilities folder, and inside of that double-click on Keychain Access. When it opens you’ll see a search field in the upper-right corner. Type the name of the site you’re looking for, and it will appear. Double-click on the result and an info dialog will appear, and to see your password, turn on the show Password checkbox.

SENDING HUGE ATTACHMENTS
Most email servers have a limit to how large an attachment they’ll accept. Most limit an attachment size to 5MB (some even less), and if you email somebody a 6MB file, it’s probably going to get “kicked back” to you as undeliverable. Want to get around that? Use iChat instead. Once you have an iChat session started with someone, you can go under the Buddies menu and choose Send File. Navigate your way to the file you want to send, click OK, and the file will be sent to the person you’re chatting with (and a link to download your file will appear in their iChat window). No matter how big the file size is, it’ll get there.

FINDING THE RIGHT SPECIAL CHARACTER
Okay, let’s say you’re in Mail, and you’re writing the word “résumé,” which used properly should have that little accent over the “é” like I have it here. You know it needs an accent, but you have no idea which keyboards combination will create an “e” with an accent above it.

EXPOSÉ SHOW-OFF TRICK £1
Showing off Exposé to a friend or co-worker who uses a PC is more than a blast, it’s your duty, because even Windows XP still has nothing like it. But if you really want to be a major hambone, before you press F9 to invoke Exposé, start a QuickTime movie clip, have a DVD playing, or have iTunes playing a song and click on the Visualizer (heck, have all three going at once). When you press F9, the QuickTime clip (DVD, iTunes, etc.) keeps playing even when miniaturized. It’s fun to watch their face as it changes from “Cool!” to “Why doesn’t Windows have that?”

DUCK GENITAL ARMS RACE COVERED IN NYT
Who knew avian reproductive research could be so darned interesting? The anatomy of ducks is especially bizarre considering that 97 percent of all bird species have no phallus at all. Most male birds just deliver their sperm through an opening. Dr. Brennan is investigating how this sexual wonder of the world came to be.
BEST WIFI HOTELS
HotelChatter has just published its annual best-of list for hotels with wireless Internet access. Marriott's budget hotels took top honors. In my experience, Americans have it good here -- in Europe, it's often the case that hotels have execrable, punitively expensive Internet access from the likes of Eurospot -- one time I ended up spending €90 for one day's access at a hotel in Amsterdam that used Eurospot!
OGOH OGOH MONSTER PHOTOS
Ogoh Ogoh monsters are colourful monster sculptures, which are made from bamboo frames and paper mache. They are made in the form of creatures of the underworld known in Balinese as buta-kala. The creatures are based on characters taken from traditional myths and legends, however in modern times many also take the form of modern characters, including even people in the media or in the government.
FUNNY SIGNS
They lurk everywhere - just waiting to catch us unsuspecting. On street corners, on the sides of buildings, on cars and even in the middle of veld - watch out, they will leave you laughing helplessly...
