The Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently hosted a presentation by Nicholas Bloom of Global Brands Group, the company appointed as the worldwide exclusive licensing representative and store operator for FIFA branded retail destinations. DIGITAL SIGNAGE SYSTEM EMITS AROMAS TO ATTRACT CUSTOMERS
Japanese Tech powerhouses NTT Communications and Recruit developed a digital signage system capable of simultaneously emitting scents and showing compatible commercials. A prototype is currently being tested in an underground shopping mall in Tokyo.

OLED MAY TAKE OVER LCD, BUT NOT YET
You may not have heard of OLED, but the Japanese government has. And on July 9, 2008, it announced that it will support Sony, Sharp and other Japanese manufacturers in a joint development to further develop the screen technology.

In addition to Leo Burnett’s hard-hitting Human Trafficking campaign being commended at the Creative Circle, receiving a merit at the OBIE awards, and a finalist position at the recent New York Festival Awards in the ‘best use of medium’ category, the results at the 30th annual Loeries Awards Festival proved similarly rewarding. The Leo Burnett creative team gained a Bronze Loerie in the Outdoor and Ambient Media category.

Vista System International has recently supplied its modular and yet highly customizable sign system to Art Design for installation at Metro-Israel, a leading motorcycle and scooter distributor.

CREATING A LANDMARK COCA-COLA SIGN FOR FENWAY PARK
After this baseball season, when Yankee Stadium is shuttered and bulldozers raze the second incarnation of the ‘House that Ruth Built’ (the original Yankee Stadium was replaced in 1974) to make room for its replacement, Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox, will stand alongside the Chicago Cubs’ Wrigley Field as one of baseball’s ‘cathedrals’ that harkens back to the days of 25-cent bleacher seats and nickel hot dogs. Presumably, Red Sox fans sneer at their loathed archrivals’ jettisoning tradition.

GINACA USE X-BOARD FOR STRIKING PROMO DESIGN
Ginaca, a well-known printing company based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, produced a Heineken promotional stand from 12mm and 16mm X-Board, for their company showroom. An HP flatbed printer was used to print directly onto the board, providing an excellent finish.

ANTIQUE CARVED BIRD TREASURES
The vintage bird collection, designed by Jim Mullan, was inspired by his fascination with birds and antique objects. The crows were used as hunting decoys in the 30’s and 40’s. The original decoys were passed on to Jim and he has turned each into an eclectic, one of a kind piece of art.
