OUT-OF-HOME ADSPEND IN SA: A BILLION RAND INDUSTRY
The annual Adspend on Out-of-Home or Outdoor Advertising has fluctuated periodically since it was first reported and monitored from 1977. Over the years, Outdoor Advertising as an effective advertising medium has grown consistently but recent reports have revealed a conspicuous drop in spending figures. The year 2005/6 saw a total growth on Outdoor ad spend of 29.83% but in the report for 2006/7, the figure had dropped to only 13.46%.

The Tshwane Street Furniture Consortium, comprising Primedia Outdoor and Street Pole Ads, has inked a R69-million, ten-year contract with the Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality to provide modern and attractive new directional Street Name Signs.

eNEWS CHANNEL AND PRIMALL MEDIA DANCE WITH DEMOCRACY
Taking to the airwaves in June this year, e.tv’s eNews Channel, South Africa's first independent round-the-clock news service via pay TV operator DStv has taken the market by storm. Seeking to create further impact within the LSM 8 – 10 segment, e.tv signed to continue a mall advertising contract effective 1 August – 31 March 2009 with mall advertising media specialist, Primall Media.

MELROSE ARCH HOARDING
The impressive new hoarding at Melrose Arch in Johannesburg creates a striking visual over its 2000sqm exposure area, clearly seen from both sides of the M1 highway. The project was rolled-out by signage consultants Benchmark Signs and involved bungee cord technology, able to hold up to 4 tons, and innovative Y-support beams that act like a sail on a boat, moving in the wind.

Visitors to the SANSA office in Kensington, Johannesburg will now be directed clearly to the door, thanks to the generous donation of Vista directional signs from Red Hand Sign Supplies, official distributors of Vista System International in Southern Africa.
