VISCOM FRANKFURT 2008 THE BIGGEST OF ALL TIMES
It will be the biggest viscom ever held in Frankfurt: the International Trade Fair for Visual Communication will open with more than 260 exhibitors at the end of October. Enlarging the exhibition area by ten percent had already become necessary back in June; now the space occupied by the companies is more than 60 percent larger than at the previous event held in 2006 (at that time still under the name PRO SIGN).

NEC Display Solutions has confirmed that the very first customer to receive its new 15 series commercial displays for digital signage will be Span Image Kenya.

3M EYES BIG AT INDIAN DIGITAL SIGNAGE MARKET
3M India has developed software from its Bangalore unit for a new mode of advertising. Now hypermarkets, large format retail chains and smaller outlets in the organised retail space are taking to the digital signage (DSN) advertising in a big way.

 

STUNNING DIGITAL SIGNAGE: NEW NEC DISPLAY MONITORS ROCK
As flat-screen televisions are becoming more commonplace in homes everywhere, their business counterpart's numbers are also increasing with the current surge in the digital signage market. Recently, the Test Centre accepted an invitation to review two commercial-grade monitors from NEC Display's 20-Series: the LCD6520 and its smaller sibling, the LCD5220.

Samsung Electronics is equally as involved in the commercial display market as the residential one, and the company is introducing several new large-format displays that can be used for digital signage in spots like hotels, airports, and shopping malls.

To raise awareness and educate South African commuters about Thokoman’s smooth and crunchy Peanut Butter, the company enlisted ComutaNet’s branded taxi services to relay an advertising campaign throughout Gauteng and Thohoyandou (Limpopo) for a period of six months.

GO CHANNEL SELECTS TLC TO LAUNCH NEW SHOW CALLED GOSSIP GIRL
Go Channel and media agency Mindshare have commissioned TLC’s to launch their new TV show called ‘Gossip Girl’, which hits screens on the pay broadcaster’s Go Channel this September.
