FESPA DIGITAL INDIA 2008 POSTPONED DUE TO TRAGIC EVENTS IN MUMBAI
Due to the tragic events that have taken place in Mumbai, India over the last week, FESPA has taken the decision to postpone the forthcoming FESPA Digital India show that was scheduled to take place from 14th to 16th December 2008 in Mumbai. The exhibition will now take place from 28th February to 2nd March 2009 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai.

XEROX DEEPENS SOUTH AFRICAN CONNECTION WITH R1 MILLION GRANT TO LOCAL UNIVERSITIES
During a visit here to meet customers and partners, Xerox Corporation President Ursula M. Burns presented a grant totaling R1 million to the University of South Africa and the University of Johannesburg (UJ). The grant was made in a private meeting with UNISA and UJ chief administrators.

ADOBE ISSUES CALL FOR ENTRIES FOR 2009 ADOBE DESIGN ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS
Adobe Systems Incorporated has announced the call for entries for the ninth annual Adobe Design Achievement Awards (ADAA). The premiere competition honours the best student graphic designers, photographers, illustrators, animators, digital filmmakers, developers and computer artists from accredited higher education institutions worldwide.

TELEKOM NETWORKS MALAWI SOARS TO NEW HEIGHTS WITH INM OUTDOOR
INM Outdoor in Malawi have facilitated the erection of a unique and practical building wrap that offers Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) simultaneous long-term brand building as well as short-term product advertising.   

COMUTANET CELEBRATES LOTUS FM’s 25TH YEAR ON AIR
Indian community radio station Lotus FM, contracted ComutaNet to extend the station’s celebrations to its huge audience, and to potential listeners. The public broadcaster branded a massive fleet of 121 Mega Buses with celebratory messages and images of popular Lotus fm presenters with corresponding show timeslots bolstering the ‘25 years and still going strong’ campaign.

ADVANCES IN ELECTROLUMINESCENT (EL) TECHNOLOGY WIDENS APPLICATIONS
Electro Luminescence (EL), the technology that enables animated advertising signage panels to be made lightweight and paper thin, has been developed to become even more compact and adaptable. In a recent technological advance, the flexible EL display panel and its power source have been combined to make a single stand alone unit which can be very simply fixed onto a variety of different of flat or curved surfaces.

NEON GLASS FROM NGS: NEW NEON COLOUR
Neon & Graphic Supplies (NGS) has introduced the brand new Tecnolux colour ‘211 – Candlelight’. Candlelight is a new colour, able to reproduce the look of a softly dimmed incandescent lamp. It has been specifically engineered to work alone or connected with Tecnolux colour ‘311 – Soft White’, guaranteeing a long life span and energy efficiency that a halogen or incandescent are not able to offer.

PVC BLOCKOUT MEDIA
SolvoTex PVC Standard Blockout is Neschen’s newest media offering for billboards, backdrops, awnings, banners, trade-show exhibits, and double-sided graphics applications. The 100%-polyester media has a PVC coating on both sides and an opaque blockout liner designed to allow double-sided printing with no shadows, wash-out or bleed-through.

SHANGHAI INTERNATIONAL DIGITAL SIGNAGE EXHIBITION 2009
Next June sees the ‘2009 Shanghai International Digital Signage Exhibition,‘ which will take place at the Shanghai Mart 22nd to 24th June 2009. The event will be co-located with the 6th China Vending & Kiosk Show 2009 and the First Shanghai Digital Signage Forum will also be held in conjunction with the show.

JVC TURNS ON THE FIRST 720P BILLBOARD IN TIMES SQUARE
Is bigger always better? JVC's new LED display in Times Square doesn't have the size of Walgreens or Toshiba (and lets be real, no one is touching Dubai) but it is the first one in proper 720p (1280x720) resolution, no scaling or head tilting necessary here.

SIZED DIGITAL SIGNAGE ENCLOSURE
Itsenclosures has recently introduced the ViewStation Array, digital signage hardware enclosure. A combination of hardware, LCD, thermal and enclosure protection, the ViewStation Array includes CAT-5 cable technology for video distribution and up to six 46’ LCD displays within the same ‘billboard-sized’ 3.6 x 4.2m (12’x14’) enclosure.

X-BOARD USED FOR RAILWAY SIGNAGE
Hirt and Carter, one of South Africa’s leading suppliers of integrated print solutions, manufactured signage from X-Board for a South African railway station in August 2008. Glossy, printed self-adhesive vinyl was applied to the boards which were then secured to the wall. As X-Board is fully printable, the surface could also be direct inkjet printed if desired.
