SIGN AFRICA PORT ELIZABETH – TWO WEEKS TO GO!
Sign Africa is returning to the Eastern Cape to showcase all the latest developments and trends in the signage, screenprint, graphics, point-of-sale and large format digital print industries. The exhibition, which takes place on Thursday 19 February 2009, will be a 1-day event at the Feather Market Centre in Port Elizabeth.

SIGN CHINA 2009 - FINAL CHANCE TO REGISTER
SIGN CHINA 2009 is going to take place at the Pazhou Complex, Second Phase, in China from February 28 to March 3, 2009. With nearly 1,000 exhibitors covering up to 80,000sqm of exhibition space, this edition will be the largest that has ever been staged in Guangzhou.

XANITA TRIUMPH AT FESPA DESPITE UNFORTUNATE CIRCUMSTANCES
Xanita Thailand recently attended what could only be described as a surprisingly successful FESPA World Expo Asia-Pacific 2008, considering the extenuating circumstances; Bangkok international airport was closed due to a political demonstration for the duration of the show.

DESIGN 2 THE MAX 2009
It's turning out to be an exciting year for South African designers, as five really exciting design competitions begin shortly, all from a passionate supporter of local creativity in all its forms - Roland.

SIM DELIVERED COST-EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS FOR MARKETERS
The inaugural three-day Signage, Imaging and Media (SIM) 2008 expo, the most comprehensive trade show for the regional marketing communications industry, concluded on a high note at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). SIM is a combination of three vertical events in the form of an exhibition and three one-day forums providing a platform for companies to showcase products and solutions.

FESPA CONFIRMS BLUE CHIP SPONSORS FOR DIGITAL 2009 EVENT

INDIA'S FIRST LATEX GO GREEN BUS WRAP ROLLED OUT BY PEACOCK MEDIA LTD.
Hewlett Packard are proud to show the first fully green fleet in India, converted on the HP L655500 Latex printer by Peacock Media Ltd for Google's Go Green Campaign. The theme has been printed on Arlons SAV and received a superb response. The Designjet L65500 will be on display at the Sign & Graphic Exhibition in Dubai from February 15 - 17, 2009.

The Western Cape: Department of Health is capitalising on ComutaNet’s unbeaten ability to effectively communicate to over 20 million economically active South Africans, to intensify its TB awareness campaign between November 2008 and April 2009. 

E-TV AND WIDEOPEN PLATFORM CAPTURE THE JOHANNESBURG CBD
Aimed at communicating broadcast details and reinforcing awareness within the LSM 4 – 7 segment, e.tv has secured a deal with Primedia Unlimited subsidiary Wideopen Platform to dominate the Johannesburg City centre through Wideopen’s unique City Advertising Package for the free to air channel’s generic programming as well as locally produced programmes Scandal, Rhythm City, 20 Something, eNews and Sunrise.

DSTV SIGNS DEAL WITH ICON MEDIA AND PICK ‘N PAY
In search of innovative and exciting ways to communicate with shoppers close to the point of purchase, South African paid-TV broadcaster DSTV, has for the first time teamed up with Icon Media. DSTV aims to take advantage of Icon’s branded shopping trolleys in a bid to strengthen DSTV as a family brand and to invite children and parents to ‘Come and play with DSTV’. 

NBA UNVEILS FIRST-EVER WRAPPED METRO LIGHT RAIL TRAINS
The NBA unveiled the first-ever wrapped METRO light rail trains today during an event at the METRO Operations and Maintenance Facility in Phoenix. A special NBA All-Star-themed design, highlighting the images of six 2009 NBA All-Stars and printed on HP digital printing technology, will be featured on two trains from the new mass transit system 26 Jan - 16 Feb.

Jetseal SA have announced that they will be exhibiting at Sign Africa 2009 in Port Elizabeth, Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg. NEW STUDY: CONSUMERS QUICK TO ACT ON
ADVERTISING IN AIRPORT TERMINALS
Leading airport media provider, EYE, has released a new airport study showing consumers’ readiness to act on advertising in airport terminals. The study was conducted by Synovate for RAC Roadside Assistance in Perth International Airport during August 2008. Findings reveal that 84 per cent of respondents rated airports as a suitable advertising environment.  

C-NARIO BRINGS ITS CAPABILITIES TO THE SMB BUSINESS MARKET WITH THE NEW C-SIGN™ DIGITAL SIGNAGE PRODUCT
C-nario has launched a digital signage solution for small and medium businesses (SMBs) at Integrated Systems Europe 2009. C-nario’s C-Sign is designed for small and medium businesses enabling users to upload all types of content (video, images, text) easily, schedule the content and manage it through a Web browser with a user friendly interface, from anywhere, anytime.

DIRECT PRINT USE X-BOARD IN OUTSTANDING DESIGNS
Direct Print, a printing specialist based in Morocco, recently created outstanding X-Board designs for various industries by using a new Fuji Acuity HD printer. Exhibition booths made from 16mm X-Board were used for the French chamber of Commerce held in Casablanca, Morocco last year. The eco-friendly booths were a great success and were a hive of activity for the duration of the event.

TRUE-TO-LIFE ART REPRODUCTIONS
Junkers & Müllers manufactures canvases for art reproductions that can be printed with water-based, solvent and UV inks. The combination of Mediatex® canvas and relevant technology makes true-to-life art reproduction a reality. The material is made of 100% natural fibres and was developed after intense discussions with artists to establish their particular requirements.

ACID TEST ON ICE
Mediatex® Presto already passed its first acid test with flying colours when the ceiling of the indoor skiing arena Skihalle in Neuss had to be re-clad at the end of last year. Management were on the lookout for a printable textile that could be used in the restyling of the hall’s ‘sky’.

SIGN AND DISPLAY MANUFACTURER CREATES OVERSIZED SEAL FOR OBAMA’S INAUGURAL
Laser Cutting Inc., a Milwaukee-based manufacturer, designer and wide-format printer, had one of its most unique products on display last week during the inauguration of President Barack Obama. The company recently created and shipped a 2.23m (7ft, 4in) diametre version of the Seal of the President of the United States, installed in a conference room in the Capital Hilton, Washington D.C.
