OLYMPIC LOGOS LAUNCHED
Logos to represent each Olympic event in 2012 have been launched by the organising committee. The 38 pictograms show the sports and disciplines at the Games and will be used for signage, on tickets and on the field of play at Games-time. The London 2012 pictograms were developed in consultation with each International Sporting Federation.  

SEVEN MORE MONTHS OF THE ROLAND WRAP2THEMAX VEHICLE WRAP DESIGN COMPETITION
The Wrap2theMax vehicle wrap design competition has given away the first 5 laptops, and there are 7 more. All you need to do is design a winning vehicle wrap and submit it.  

CRAIDON DISPLAY LAUNCHES AT SIGN AFRICA
Craidon Display was officially launched at the recent Sign Africa show in Johannesburg. Prior to joining the signage and display industry, owner Craig Van De Venter spent 10 years working on chartered yachts.  

GRAPHIC LAMINATES SCOOPS SILVER AT HOMEMAKERS FAIR
Large format digital printer, Graphic Laminates, was recently awarded a silver medal for their stand at Homemakers Fair. ‘This is a first for us,’ explained Garth Richards (owner of the company). ‘This stand was a showcase of what we are able to produce and was designed by our recently appointed in-house designer.’  

DISPLAY/POS WORLD TO BECOME A VISCOM CORE SEGMENT
Manufacturers and suppliers of displays and PoS systems who, in the past, were represented in the Marketing Services section at “display”, the trade fair for PoS marketing, now have a new trade fair home. With DISPLAY/PoS World starting in 2010, they will have an exhibition segment of their own under the viscom roof. Many companies are showcasing PoS solutions at the International Trade Fair for Visual Communication even now.

MAXATEC ENHANCES ITS DIGITAL SIGNAGE OFFERING WITH SUMO DIGITAL DISPLAYS
Maxatec has announced the introduction of a new series of SUMO digital displays for digital signage and in-store advertising display applications. The company's product portfolio will now include the SUMO ST8A (acrylic) and SUMO ST8MS (metal). These screens are fully customisable and will display product advertising or information directly to customers through still images, video and audio.  

SONY'S 360-DEGREE 3D PROTOTYPE MAY POINT TO DIGITAL SIGNAGE FUTURE
Sony has showcased a prototype 3D technology at Tokyo's Digital Content Expo, which the company said could have digital signage potential in the future. The 13x27cm device features a stereoscopic, 24-bit colour image measuring 96x128 pixels. The image is viewable from any angle without the need for special glasses.  

SCALA POWERS NEXCOM'S MEDIA PLAYERS
While companies looking to deploy digital signage networks were once limited to PC-based media players, today's digital signage providers continue to develop new, lower-cost hardware alternatives. Digital signage software provider Scala and digital signage appliance supplier NEXCOM have partnered to deliver several flexible, high-performance and cost-effective media players certified to run on Scala.  

INTERACTIVE TV SOFTWARE COMPANY, NEVER.NO, PARTNERS WITH DIGITAL SIGNAGE SPECIALIST, 1-2-1VIEW
Norwegian interactive TV software company, never.no, has announced that it has formed a partnership with Singapore-based 1-2-1View to develop digital signs with which consumers can interact in real time using their mobile phones.  

WIRELESS RONIN PROVIDES INTERACTIVE DIGITAL SIGNAGE TECHNOLOGY FOR ARAMARK’S BURGER STUDIO BRAND
Wireless Ronin Technologies Inc., a digital signage provider, has recently announced that its relationship providing digital signage solutions for ARAMARK has expanded to include its newly launched Burger Studio brand through its Higher Education division.

VISTA SYSTEM'S WAY-FINDING SYSTEM INSTALLED AT THE NOKIA SIEMENS BUILDING IN ISRAEL
Vista System International recently supplied its modern designed and easily updatable Way-finding system to ‘Art Design’ for installation at the Nokia Siemens Building in Israel.

SUSTAINABLE FIBREBOARD 3D ANIMALS
All over the globe, designers and original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s) have discovered a new use for Xanita’s eco-friendly X-Board: three-dimensional kraft animals! Due to its lightness and versatility, the fully printable fibreboard is the ideal substrate to create these free-standing forms. The intricacy of the adjoining parts shows off the skill of OEM’s various cutters and the printability of X-Board’s surface laminate highlights the printer’s vividly colourful inks.

FULLY PRINTABLE, ECO-FRIENDLY DISPLAY FOR THE GBCSA EXPO
Graphic Laminates, a Cape Town printing and converting specialist, manufactured an exhibition stand for Dulux from Xanita’s X-Board. The stand was recently used at the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBSA) Expo in Johannesburg and is also to be displayed at the Cape Town leg from the 21-23 October 2009.

Are we making the most of the creative possibilies of LEDs?
