LED: GETTING THE MESSAGE ACROSS – LARGE AND CLEAR
In a world of advertising clutter, competing for audience mindshare is critical. There is one marketing, communication and branding medium that stands, quite literally, head and shoulders above the rest: giant LED screens.

TRED DEVELOPS PROTOTYPE REFLECTIVE DIGITAL SIGN
Tred Displays Corp. recently tested a large-area, ePoster display that uses Scanning Writable Erasable ePoster (SWEeP) technology. The technology replaces a full, printed-circuit-board backplane with a sweeping writehead behind the display to update the Tred faceplate. Instead of taking up 1.8m (6ft.) of electronics in a 1.8m (6ft.) sign, all the electronics now fits in the first 15cm (6in). Thus, the track can be lengthened without adding electronics.

The LED bar rotates approximately 12 times per second, which cannot be perceived by the human eye.

TEN DOOH PREDICTIONS FOR 2010
New at Screenmedia Expo Europe next year is a separate-but-linked DOOH Expo, focusing on the advertising potential of this medium and aimed not at the guys with screwdrivers but the guys with red bow-ties. What can they expect from the world of digital out-of-home? Here are a few words I wrote for the event’s organisers: stuff that probably will happen, and if it doesn’t, something a bit like it will. (Perhaps. That’s the way of crystal balls.)
