FESPA ATTENDANCE 'RECORD-BREAKING'
Fespa has hailed this year's show a success, after a series of record breaking daily attendances. More than 22 000 visitors from 130 countries attended the first three days.

FESPA 2010 PUSHES INNOVATION ENVELOPE
Directly following FESPA’S Opening Ceremony, Nils Mueller of TrendOne, delivered a powerful keynote and wake up call for all print professionals – the ‘Future of the Printed World’ certainly provided delegates with lively insight into future trends, technologies and opportunities for the imaging community. 

SWISSPRINT PRODUCTION RECEIVES FESPA AWARD
The Fespa 2010 jury has spoken. First prize (Gold) in the category ‘Digital Special Print including Architectural and Interior Design’ went to the Zürich-based print specialist Swissprint Production. 

CREATIVITY PAYS OFF FOR SOME
A new addition to the Viscom award portfolio in 2009 was the Best Practice Award for Light Advertising. It was the first prize to be presented at the International Trade Fair for Visual Communication to reward light advertising applications that were already installed and operational.

PRIMEDIA LIFESTYLE WINS TWO SILVER ACCOLADES AT EURO SOLAL MARKETING AWARDS
The European Solal Marketing Awards were held in Libon at the beginning of July, and Primedia Lifestyle won two Silver awards at this prestigious event.  

MALL ACTIVE CATCHES THE GAUTRAIN
Having jointly won the Gautrain advertising pitch last year, Mall Active, Primedia Unlimited’s mall activation specialist presented South Africans with an informative Gautrain showcase leading up to the launch of the rapid rail system. 

PRIMALL MEDIA GIVES NIVEA VISAGE A LIFT
Primedia Unlimited’s shopping mall advertising specialist, Primall Media, is providing just the right lift for Nivea Visage’s Expert Lift Day Care anti-sagging skincare system advertising creative until the end of September 2010. 

DSTV AND PRIMALL MAKE WAVES AT GATEWAY THEATRE OF SHOPPING
Determined to own a high footfall space to complement its above-the-line advertising in the upcoming school holidays, satellite broadcaster DSTV has again entered into a partnership with Primedia Unlimited subsidiary, Primall Media. The DSTV deal commissions Primall to brand the Gateway Shopping Centre’s Wavehouse, Expo Explore Arena and Skate Park until the end of July. 

STARCOM GETS MOVIE GOERS INTO THE HOT ZONE WITH TABASCO 
Full service media agency Starcom has implemented an interactive cinema activation called Hot Zones for the hot, legendary pepper sauce brand Tabasco. Superseding the brief, the agency worked closely with Cinemark to create an impactful environment that would encourage consumers to interact with the brand. The Hot Zones activation is currently running in Ster Kinekor theatres across the country. 

NIVEA ADVERTISES WITH WIDEOPEN ON PRIME OUTDOOR SITE OF 454M2
Nivea’s target market, aged 20 plus, is finally getting much needed exposure to some of their products on the prime site that belongs to Wideopen Platform along Jeppe and Sauer streets in Johannesburg.

FIFA FAN FEST BRANDING BY RIGHT STUFF AND THE VENTURES GROUP
In a partnership between Right Stuff and The Ventures Group, FIFA branding has become more widespread in the Durban region.  

INVICTUS FINALLY AVAILABLE ON DVD COURTESY OF NU METRO AND PRIMALL MEDIA
Once again, Nu Metro Home Entertainment and Primall Media have partnered, and for one month, the two will work together to communicate the availability of two-time Oscar nominated film Invictus, directed by Clint Eastwood.

ALDO SHOES CONSUMERS TARGETED BY MALL ACTIVE
The patrons of Aldo shoes have been targeted by the mall activation expert and subsidiary of Primedia Unlimited, Mall Active. The activation campaign, according to Travis Brown, Head of Activations, occurred at Sandton City as well as Gateway Shopping Centre in Durban.  

MALL ACTIVE SELECTED BY MEDSHIELD FOR HEALTHCARE CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT
Mall Active, a division of Primedia Unlimited responsible for shopping mall activation, has recently executed a shopping centre promotion for Medshield, the healthcare provider.

MEGA SIGN CONTRACTED TO ADIDAS FOR CAPE TOWN FIFA FAN WALK
Adidas, the official FIFA partner, has recently contracted a Mega Sign of 480m², owned by Primedia Unlimited’s Wideopen Platform. This Mega Sign will be used by Adidas until 10 August.  

TLC HELPS OUT WITH SENSITIVE SUBJECT
The so aptly named TLC, a division of Primedia Unlimited, has announced that the will be assisting Pfizer Consumer Healthcare with the touch subject of piles treatment. Since it’s not a subject many discuss in small talk, TLC’s engagement in this campaign will see washroom advertising for Preparation H.

HYUNDAI RECIEVES PRIME SPORT BY WIDEOPEN AT CAPE TOWN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Wideopen Platform has recently assisted the official 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup sponsor by allowing them to be the only brand to dominate the entire runway, making the brand itself visible to all on the airside from the runway, including terminal buses and passengers inside the aircraft.  

DIESEL AND PRIMALL MEDIA BE STUPID FOR 2010
Diesel, the apparel brand known for its unique clothing for the style-making individual, has for the first time inked an advertising deal with mall communication specialists Primall Media. Its directive is to introduce the Diesel 2010 BE STUPID campaign and create brand awareness around the Diesel brand in close proximity to store locations.

TLC SECURES SLAM BUSINESS FOR UNITED 4 BAFANA CAMPAIGN
Primedia Unlimited’s washroom advertising company TLC has secured the business of SLAM, the Official Licensed Bafana Bafana Merchandise Company. SLAM has committed to a two-month contract to create awareness around its ‘United 4 Bafana’ campaign and punt its official licensed merchandise to South Africans and Bafana fans. 

PRIMALL MEDIA AND WIDEOPEN PLATFORM DRIVE FEET INTO SUPERGA SHOES
Superga, the Italian shoe for everyday people, is driving feet into its stores inside shopping malls across the country, thanks to the innovative media platforms of Primall Media and Wideopen Platform. Superga has chosen the Primedia Unlimited subsidiaries as its partners in advertising the new range of supporters’ shoes for the 2010 Soccer World Cup™.

ESKOM SIGNS UP FOR ICON MEDIA’S BRANDED TROLLEYS
Parastatal electricity provider Eskom has signed an exclusive three-month contract with Icon Media, Primedia Unlimited subsidiary’s branded shopping cart experts, to create awareness of its CFL ‘Switch and Save’ campaign. The partnership will deliver exposure for Eskom in Shoprite Checkers, Makro, Pick ‘n Pay and Builders Warehouse outlets nationwide. 

MCDONALD’S ENSURES IT’S ‘WIDEOPEN’ TO WORLD CUP TOURISTS
Even though McDonald’s doesn’t have a branch inside any of South Africa’s international airports, it has ensured that it remains top-of-mind during the FIFA 2010 Soccer World Cup™ by contracting Primedia Unlimited’s large-format, outdoor advertising specialist, Wideopen, to spread the word of its Player Escort Programme.

The Kornit Breeze 921 is a Drop-on-Demand Direct to Garment Printer. This machine produces up to 40 Shirts an hour and is totally automated from the pre-treatment to final print. It is a true production workhorse. 

INNOVA SHOWS JETMASTER DISPLAY SYSTEM AT FESPA
This is a brand new, innovative product and was awarded with one of the FESPA Innovation Product awards.  

3M AT FESPA 2010
3M had three new FESPA releases, namely 3M Scotchcal Translucent Graphic Film 3630LED, 3M Clearview Window Film 8150 and 3M Controltac 85 CV3.

In keeping with the World Cup spirit, giant soccer balls made from the recyclable, printable X-Board, were recently produced for the Woolworths head office.

Cape Town’s Green Point Stadium is efficiently illuminated using OSRAM Opto Semiconductors LEDs. In fact, all ten stadiums of the soccer World Cup are equipped with energy saving lighting technology by OSRAM.
