DTTC And Western Cape Department of Health Educates Communities About MMC

The Desmond Tutu TB Centre (DTTC), in partnership with the Western Cape Department of Health, has produced a credit card-sized Z-card® to educate communities about the importance of Medical Male Circumcision (MMC).

Sue-Ann Meehan, Principal Investigator at the Desmond Tutu TB Centre said, 'The cards are being distributed via clinics and hospitals to educate communities about the benefits of MMC, as an intervention that can potentially reduce HIV transmission. Our aim is to ensure that fewer men are infected with HIV, which should result in less transmission of the disease and, eventually, fewer female infections.'
The Z-card®’s compact size enables community members to easily keep it in their pocket and to refer to it when needed.
